Despite India's emergence as a world power, there are more people living in poverty in India than the whole of sub-Saharan Africa - 350 million people survive on less than $1 a day and 20% of the population is malnourished (UNDP 2008.) Read more.

We are supporting 15 projects in four states in northern India - Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand. We are working with 16,000 people from the most marginalised dalit (formerly known as ‘untouchables') and tribal communities.

Our India office is based in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
