Thank you for celebrating Find Your Feet's 50th Anniversary!
On Sunday 13th March we hosted a vibrant evening of stylish design, fabulous food and live entertainment. Guests and supporters of ethical fashion joined us at Mint Leaf Restaurant & Bar for We Are What We Wear to pay tribute to the people we work with and to celebrate the best of ethical and sustainable fashion! On the night... Guests were treated to a three course meal and canapés of Mint Leaf’s finest innovative and contemporary Indian dishes, and were entertained by the best of Bollywood from Honey Kalaria’s Dance Academy and spell binding magic from Bharat Patel. The evening raised £10,000 enabling us to continue helping some of the world’s poorest families to build a future free from hunger and poverty. Thanks to the generosity and support of our guests and event partners. To view photos of the We Are What We Wear please visit our flickr gallery The designers... Your support... The Indian weavers FYF supports in Varanasi India, work tirelessly to create exquisite and distinctive designs through their production of the traditional Banarsi saris. The Banarsi sari has been an essential in every stylish bride’s wedding wardrobe in India for centuries. However, the weavers who create the beautiful designs have endured discrimination and terrible poverty, earning just 60 – 75p a day.
Nermala is just one of thousands of people that will benefit from your support... ''My family has been weavers for the last four generations. We don't know anything else. We have hope through the struggle. But for us to build a future we need to end exploitation and sell our saris at a price that allows us to feed our families'' Nermala Devi
£10,000 can go towards supporting 285 people in India to set up their own business and break free from a cycle of debt and poverty. With your support FYF is working with the weavers to transform their situation, so that their weaving and skills are valued once more and they can earn a stable income to build a better future for their families.
