Thank you for helping us to transform lives this Diwali!

On Tuesday 18^th October we hosted a special Diwali celebration with Cinnamon Kitchen & Anise to pay tribute to the communities we work with in India and Nepal.

On the night...

Guests were treated to delicious canapés and cocktails, special performances from Honey’s Dance Academy, spellbinding magic from Bharat Patel and henna art by Pavan.

Our India Director, Savitri Sharma, joined our celebrations and shared stories from the communities whose lives you have helped to transform. Savitri also described our plans to expand our programme into Nepal to reach more families who are trapped in a cycle of hunger and poverty. So the support we received at our Diwali event is even more crucial in helping towards us this next step.

To raise vital funds for our work we held a money-can’t-buy prize auction, and with the help of our auctioneer David Brunt, we had guests bidding over the exclusive prizes which were generously donated by a number of companies. Cick here for more information.

Your support...

The evening raised over £6,500 enabling us to continue helping some of the world’s poorest families to build a future free from hunger and poverty. A huge thank you to the generosity and support of our guests and event partners and auction donors for making the event such a success!

During the evening Savitri told us the story of Kamla’s family from Rae Bareli, India, just one of thousands of families that will benefit from your support.

Kamala received training from the FYF programme to improve her harvest and through the self-help-group which FYF has set up in her community, she has been able to take out an affordable loan to start a business to earn a sustainable income. Her daughter is also now attending a girls’ education centre where she learns basic literacy and vocational skills, so she too can build a future free from poverty.

“I re-invest the money I earn in farming so that I can grow more crops to feed my family”.
