Five ways we celebrated FYF's 50th anniversary...To mark our 50th year, we aimed to reach 50,000 families in rural India and Malawi, and to start a vital new programme in Nepal and Zimbabwe. Your support during our milestone year helped us to work towards achieving this important goal.
1) ... With some Summer Sizzle and Spice! In July 2010, some of London's finest Indian chef's hosted an exclusive event at Dockmasters House restaurant. Guests watched our award-winning chefs in action, and sampled their mouth-watering canape creations.
We raised over £15,000 to ensure that hunger and poverty become a thing of the past for thousands more families. Read more about the event here.
2) ... With 50 Feet at the British 10K London Run
Our supporters have certainly been busy spreading the word about FYF and having fun along the way. From climbing challenges to special occasions they raised a fantastic £4,000. Feel inspired? Get involved!
3) ... With our supporters at the House of LordsIn October 2010, we hosted a 50th anniversary reception at the House of Lords. It was a great opportunity to thank our supporters, and we shared inspirational stories from those who have benefited from your support, including a special message from Nelly Chikodzera from Malawi: " Before working with FYF, my family went hungry for four months a year. To be able to feed my family all year round has brought me such relief. It has brought joy to my heart. I would like to thank everyone in your country who has helped me to ensure my family no longer goes hungry. Thank you!" 4) ... With our partners in India
Our FYF team in India hosted a spectacular event to mark our anniversary with a finale on the River Ganges! Our project partners joined in the daylong celebration which provided the opportunity to commemorate and reflect om all we have achieved by working together.
5) ... With an evening to celebrate ethical and sustainable fashionOn Sunday 13th March 2011 we hosted a vibrant evening of stylish design, fabulous food and live entertainment, and raised £10,000 on the night enabling us to reach a further 2,000 families who still face a future of hunger and poverty.
