Celebrating 50 years.....
By remaining a small organisation, we are able to work really closely with communities, listening to them and designing projects that respond to their needs – so that people can create the lasting change they want. This approach of building community self-reliance takes time, but it works. .....Of building lasting solutions to poverty
Supporting people in rural communities to feed their families now and in the future remains at the heart of what we do. Freed from the constant struggle of hunger, we are enabling people to set up small businesses that improve their family income, and access vital services like clean water, healthcare and education that transform their future. “Our village had no clean water, no roads and no nearby health centres or schools. Before, us women were told to stay in the home. Now, through the project, we’ve helped ensure ill people receive treatment, our children go to school and receive a good meal, and hand pumps for water have been installed.” Bhagobai Pradhan, India Thank you
We are incredibly grateful that so many people have joined us on our journey for the last 50 years – and some for the entire time. Looking forwards

Over 50 years, we have learnt that there are no quick-fix solutions and no single ‘answer’ to ending poverty.
“Before, there was hunger, hunger, hunger. Through the project, I have learnt new, effective agricultural methods. Now we are eating three meals a day. We are learning to look to ourselves to find solutions to our problems.” Miriam Nkhoma, Malawi.
As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, we know that none of our life-changing projects would be possible without the commitment to our work shown by our generous supporters.
“I sincerely believe that the joint efforts of FYF and our partners are enabling some of the poorest families to transform their futures. Now we just need to be able to reach more families so that they too can take control over their own development." Savitri Sharma, FYF India Country Director
