Curry at Bonningtons
On Monday 1st March one of South London's best kept secrets, the Bonnington Cafe, hosted a day of good food and fun to raise funds for our important work in rural India and Malawi.
The Bonnington Cafe, which is a co-operatively run vegetarian and vegan restaurant in Vauxhall, offers food that is cheap, eco friendly and wholesome.

Two of the Cafe's own chefs, Kamila and Ana, cooked up a fantastic three course feast - there was a delicious roasted pepper and tomato soup for starters, followed by a choice between moroccan aubergine bake and sweet potato and chick pea curry...and between a mascapone berry tart and a pear crumble to round it all off.
Altogether the evening raised a fantastic £522.10. This could do all of the following:
-
train a member of a Malawian community to act as a lead farmer in their community, enabling them to teach 20 fellow farmers sustainable farming techniques that will improve their harvests AND
-
provide training, tools and support for 40 people in India to set up small businesses using indigenous skills such as bamboo work. This will enable them to earn a sustainable income for themselves and their families AND
-
buy a treadle pump so that 20 Malawian farmers can irrigate their land and grow crops all year round AND
-
provide long-term training and support to 15 Indian women, empowering them to transform their communities by accessing basic government services such as clean water, education and healthcare.
A massive thank you to the Bonnington Cafe and particularly to Kamila and Ana for hosting the event. And thank you to everyone who came and made it such a fun evening!
